Resolution by JB Slimp

Resolution for coaches

The hardest part of coaching isn't the game.

Playing time. Parents. Roster decisions. A long season with a lot of people watching. Consultation for travel ball coaches and programs, from someone who has worked through all of it.

What coaches are up against

The part nobody teaches you.

Playing time

Who plays, who sits, and how to explain it so it holds up with athletes and parents alike.

Parents

The hard conversations, the sideline pressure, and keeping a team's families on the same page.

Roster and expectations

Building a roster, setting honest expectations, and handling the athlete who is not where they hoped to be.

Every athlete, not just the starters

Developing the whole roster, so each player has a real path forward.

Leading under pressure

Staying steady yourself, so the team can be steady too.

Running a program

For directors and owners: the culture, the staff, and the decisions that scale.

Scheduling to the goal

Choosing tournaments, practices, and rest so the calendar serves what your team is actually trying to achieve.

The right resources

Knowing what your team needs to succeed at its level, and how to get it in your hands.

Where it comes to a head

Playing time, decided on purpose.

Most playing-time trouble isn't about the lineup. It's about a decision nobody can explain. The goal is a process you believe in and can stand behind.

i.

A clear philosophy

Decided before the season, so no decision gets made in the heat of one.

ii.

Grounded in the athlete

Rooted in what each player actually does well, not a hunch or a habit.

iii.

A way to explain it

Language for athletes and parents that is honest, calm, and hard to argue with.

iv.

A record you can stand behind

Decisions you can point back to when someone asks why.

Resolution Playtime, a software tool built on this approach, is in development and coming to members first.

Why me

I've been where you're standing.

Twenty-five years of coaching. More than twenty of them leading a successful program that has helped thousands of athletes grow into their potential, including my own daughter, now an All-American at UCLA.

I know the pressure of the lineup card, the parent who disagrees, and the athlete who needs more than the game gives them. What I offer is straight talk, a clear process, and the perspective that only comes from doing it for a long time.

A large part of my work is giving coaches and teams the resources to succeed at whatever level they're aiming for, from the schedule to the plan behind it. That mindset travels, whatever program you coach in.
